Joseph, 17, is suspended from attending classes at his high school because of several episodes of fighting. He agrees to attend an adolescent therapy group on anger management skills. He asks the group leader, a social worker, if all he says and does during the group sessions will be private and not shared with anyone outside the group. The leader describes the basic concept:
A. Each group member signs a pledge of confidentiality, promising not to disclose in any way the discussions which take place, or any information about the other participants.
B. Only adults, age 18 and older have the legal privilege of privacy. The law does not extend to minors.
C. He will ask each member to provide written permission for him to share information with the school.
D. The parents know that they are not entitled to information about the group discussions.
